IPNLF publishes its latest interactive Annual Report
Available today in celebration of World Oceans Day, 8 June – the ‘IPNLF Annual Report 2018/19’ showcases the strategies undertaken by our dynamic global team over the last financial year to develop, support and promote socially and environmentally responsible one-by-one tuna fishing, and to also provide greater security to the many people and coastal communities connected to these fisheries.
With more interactive elements than ever before, this new digital report features our headline inputs, impacts and success stories from May 2018 to April 2019, and highlights some key future focus areas through which we can instigate meaningful change. It also illustrates how by supporting small-scale tuna fisheries, seafood supply chains are aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“IPNLF is a proud supporter of World Oceans Day, the largest worldwide celebration of our seas. It’s so important that ocean health is at the forefront of many people’s minds, and not least because it provides essential food and livelihoods for so many people around the world. Through our work, our organisation is ideally-placed to raise awareness of one-by-one tuna fisheries and to empower the local people and communities connected to them. As we have continued to demonstrate this past year, this is best achieved by engaging people and using that increased awareness and social consciousness to take action and make positive change” says Martin Purves, Managing Director of IPNLF.
The IPNLF team would like to acknowledge that many of its endeavours in 2018/19 wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our Member network, which grew to 65 participating organisations from 22 different countries and which spans the entire tuna supply chain. We also continued to receive generous backing from key donors and funding foundations. Our sincere thanks goes to all of these valued partners and the 50,000 one-by-one tuna fishers that our network reached last year. Happy World Oceans Day!
